I am starting this thread because some time back, I had mentioned to MV, that I, personally--and not just because I'd grown weary of every talk show on the dial being political--hoped he would consider leaving behind politics and current events (again, this was some months ago), and instead avail himself of the infinite freedom he possessed with his show to explore and discuss anything under the sun.

I suggested fascinating and important developments in all areas of science. I mentioned music and art. One could, for example, discuss the steady and surprisingly good living aging actors who once, decades earlier, appeared in some science fiction or fantasy TV show, make by appearing at those never-ending sci-fi/fantasy conventions--paid whatever modest fee to appear, then charging for signed photos with fans, etc., or even, in rare cases--in my mind this is beyond a shadow of a doubt true, however clandestine--remunerated generously by some fan from said bygone era, now grown and affluent, for "private time" some floors above in hotel room, the fan still seeing only the sex fantasy of a thousand boyhood masturbations, the actual effects of time upon said actress, plain to others, invisible in his dreaming eyes...

Hey, you think that doesn't happen? Gimme a break. Think actor who hasn't worked since the original Battlestar Galactica, and then factor in words like "mortgage", "kid's college tuition", etc. You think there aren't plenty o' moneyed, pot-bellied, sci-fi convention going geeks who wouldn't happily shell out a thick wad o' bills for two hours with Tanya Roberts? Lynda Carter? And hey, Lucy Lawless, should she be so inclined, could still be raking it in for such personal meetings (with men and women alike, fo' sho') when she's ninety.

I imagine it's like a watered-down version of what really goes on, behind the scenes, at those porn conventions in Vegas, like the annual AVN Awards. Sure, those performers make a ton of dough on the convention floor--but ever present in the Vegas casino hotels are the proverbial "whales", to use the Vegas term, the uber wealthy fatcats who casually drop millions at the blackjack or baccarat table, as they indulge their gambling jones. A bit of inside knowledge added to my grasp of human nature, I can state as fact that them porn performers, male and female alike, such meetings often arranged in advance through their reps, engage in no small amount of after hours work, pocketing a gloriously tax free king's ransom. ;-) Hey, if you were single and you could afford it, are you telling me you wouldn't at the very least consider it? Four hours with Aurora Snow and I'd be the Second Coming. Uh, as it were.

So, uh, where was I? Oh yeah. Suggestions for themes or topics for MV's Trainwreck. That's why I started this thread. I figger if we throw enough stuff at him he'll eventually use one. Come to think of it, if we all pitch in, I bet we can even get General Johnson Jameson on as a guest.

A big appy-polly-woggy to you, MV. I hadn't listened to the Trainwreck in quite some time, but just now listened to the most recent show. To my surprise and delight, I found it nearly 100% politics free. Oh, how I eat humble pie. Forgive me, my liege, never again shall I doubt your ability to apply ointment.

MV used to do this with somone else. Then he did it alone. Then he asked me to join him. We get on Skype - shoot the - um - breeze? Attempt to be entertaining, occasionally have a guest (our own MuddKing is a well informed techno geek). It's all a bit impromptu, a little bit planned, a little bit middle aged hippie and a little bit 30-something neo con, a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll (and the first person who tells me where that show slogan is from wins my estimation of their age)

As to age, I am the same age as my favorite pistol caliber 45 Colt Long. Make of that what you will...

The show sounds amusing, (aside from the neo-con part...I am a devout secular humanist, pagan and Whig) so I will try and give it a listen at some point. As some of my earlier posts have implied or even stated, I do radio part-time myself so it would be interesting to hear someone else's show who is also a denizen of this bizarre subspace.
