Two WoW questions...anyone?
« on: January 27, 2010, 10:38:54 PM »

OK, so I started plaing WoW again, so sue me. Here am two questions I's hopin' someone can answer:

     1) The usual text General text in the lower lefthand of the screen suddenly ain't showin' no text. I's tried all the obvious but no joy. Any ideas?

     2) My level 20 hunter needs to learn dual wield, which I understand he can at level 20. Where or whom do I go to to learn this skill? Poo Dung or whatever his name is in Stormwaind City ain't not got it.

Thanks,

M

Try hovering your mouse over the very top of where the chat pane should be. You should get a menu that says, "Chat" "Combat" etc. If it's completely gone, check the Interface menu. (Escape key.)

I don't play Alliance, so I don't know where the weaker faction learns to dual wield, but wowhead.com and wowwiki.com are the two sites I use most to quickly find out information like that.

Good luck.

And BTW, they've changed the itemization quite a bit so that a single two-hand weapon is always better than dual-wielding for hunters (even taking into account dual agility enchants and such), but I'm not sure if that's only for late-game itemization or if they've gone back and adjusted the lower-level loot.

The reason for that: Hunters were rolling on one-hand maces and axes as "stat sticks" which really started to piss off Shamans, Rogues and Death Knights, who derive their primary DPS from those weapons. So in an attempt to thwart guaranteed drama, Blizzard made sure the stat bonuses on two-handers were always better than a pair of one-handers. (Great for Warriors, too, since they can dual-wield two-handers.)

nooooooo! ! !
Don't play WoW, play DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online). It's a way better game with a better overall community (not as many punk *** little kids).
Character customization sucks from a visual standpoint, but character roles and stats are intricate.
Also the real time combat kicks a** over WoW.
The graphics are better imo too as they aren't as cheap and cartoony as Wow (not the absolute best either but I like them way better than Wow).

Anyways, check it out...it's Free to Play so you can try it out for quite awhile before deciding whether you like it enough to buy adventure packs for higher levels.

Be warned though, the character creation process is more complicated than most mmos and it's easy to gimp your character without some decent research on it.

Really enjoying the new patch. Also the new LFG is kick ass as well.

I've heard a lot of people praise the LFG system, and I'm glad about that.

However, maybe it's just my luck, but I always get idiots. The last time I used LFG, we went through three healers -- the tank kept blaming the healers, until when we were finally on our fourth one, after several wipes, I'd had enough.

It's been three weeks since I logged in, and I think this goes beyond normal raid burn-out to real disgust. Not so much with the game, but with the community.

I've been playing STO very casually instead, and while that game is not as polished as a Blizzard product, it's a hell of a lot more fun than I've had in WoW for a very long time. Of course it's geeky, but the community is so much more relaxed and willing to have a good time, whether grouping for missions or sitting in zone talking about classic episodes.
