User-uploaded avatars are now allowed to be approximately 25% larger than before.  All you need to do is to go into your profile, upload the avatar again, and it will resize to the new allowance.  Avatars which are selected by providing a URL to the avatar on another server are still bound by the original avatar size restrictions.  So, if you're getting the image from another site, I'd recommend that you first download the image to your computer, then upload it to our server in the profile settings so that you can take advantage of the new size allowance.  Cheers.

if you want to use an animated .gif as an avatar, you can now do so.  for it to work, you must specify the avatar's URL in your profile settings.  it (i think) will not work if you upload the avatar to the coastgab server yourself.  have fun.

Sorry for the derp, but can you explain how to use an animated gif? Where exactly do we specify the URL? When I click on the "personalized picture" box it automatically forces me to select an image from my computer and I can't put a URL in there.

Last I knew - Michael prefers we not use them - they slow the site down some.

But, he's dealing with family issues right now and I don't have the definitive answer.
