This is not shameless self-promotion...
« on: July 05, 2008, 11:17:45 PM »
i know you're thinking this new board is the result of self obsession and a need to show the world how glorious i am.  you couldn't be more incorrect.  this board now exists because there apparently is a demand for a forum to discuss the afore mentioned show.

i used to do an internet radio show called Michael Vandeven's Radio Trainwreck which aired live on my c2c stream which many of you now listen to regularly.

apparently, people are still listening to the recordings of this show, and it has been requested that we provide an area for the recordings to be discussed.  i guess this is that area.

as mentioned elsewhere, i plan to begin doing the show again in the near future when circumstances permit.

i make no claims as to the worthiness of said show.  you might enjoy it, or you might consider it complete dog shit.  regardless of which position you choose to take, i'll understand.

keep in mind that on a couple of the shows, the method i was using to record the audio was inadequate and caused either 1) dropped frames of audio or 2) generally poor audio quality.  sorry about that.

you can listen to the show here:  http://www.ufoship.com/page.php?14

yes, 2006 really was great.  i had a lot of fun things happening in my life at that time.  i have a feeling 2009 is going to be another great year for numerous reasons.  i just had a realization...

1994, 1997, 2000, 2003, and 2006 were all GREAT years in my life, with the years in between being less than memorable.  THAT is interesting.

funny you should mention that, because until about a week and a half ago, i did.  my 18 year old brother married an 18 year old girl out of the blue.  surprised everybody.  no warning.  he's really handsome.  if things don't work out, i'll make sure you're apprised first.

Gawsh. Actually, he's better off without me. Most men are! Congrats to your brother and the bride.

I'm Trouble. No. Actually I'm TROUBLE... all caps.

On another note, MV, I have to tell you something else. Maybe it belongs in the supernatural section. But I have a friend here who is so much like you it scares me. Similar name, physical appearance, facial hair, preference in women, and also happens to work in the radio business. It's beginning to freak me out.

OH and did I mention voice? When I listened to trainwreck radio I was stunned at the similarity in your voice to his.

I have wondered if newlywed status, the glow of romance with your new(ish) bride has been keeping you away from us, as I haven't noticed a great deal of your illustrious presence. Can't say that I blame you. Love and passion with a warm, wonderful woman has gotta be better than hanging with the rest of us gloids on the floor of the Ground Round as we forage for peanuts. Either way, here's hoping the radio show starts up again soon. Speaking of which, there was one song you used in the old show that I recognize but know not the name of, and that I must ere I go all Murray the Executioner.

Well I'm sure it wasn't Cannibal Corpse because apparently you and Tim don't like the vocals. :P

Btw, the song from Ace Ventura was called 'Hammer Smashed Face" from the album "Tomb of the Mutilated". I remember you guys talking about that on one of your shows and I think you were trying to find the song to play it on air one time so I figured I'd throw that out there for future reference.

I can't remember why either, but I remember you guys talking about it for some reason...can't remember the show date though, or I'd be a little more specific.

I like his vocal style myself, but that's subjective. The one thing I'm sure everyone can agree on though, even if you dislike the music, is that the song has some sweet thrash riffs. I practically learned pinch harmonics from Cannibal Corpse. Now I use them all the time.  8)

On a side note that Mordred might find especially interesting, Corpsegrinder (CC'S vocalist) is also a self-admitted avid World of Warcraft player. Whodathunkit?
